About your teacher
Hi, I’m Payal.
I am a crochet teacher and designer. I have been crocheting for 20 years and teaching for over 12 years now. Crochet is how I slow down, and it still keeps me from unravelling.
Before crochet became my work, I spent many years in publishing and business development. I worked with art and craft magazines and managed the export and licensing of Australian craft design overseas. Crochet was how I unwound from a busy corporate job.
When I stepped away from corporate life to raise my family, I gave more time to crochet and teaching, and My Mindful Craft grew from there. Today I teach small, unhurried groups at my studio on Sydney’s North Shore and at community colleges across Sydney.
I keep my groups small for one reason: so that every person gets my full attention. I want to know your name, your hands and what you dream of making, and to help you get there in a way that suits you. Some of my students have been coming to the studio for ten years now, and those friendships are the heart of what I do.
I see crochet as a kind of creative meditation. My classes are calm and gentle, and I write step-by-step notes so you can keep going at home.
