A calm place to make together
My Mindful Craft is more than a class. It is a table where people slow down, learn something that keeps the mind curious, and leave a little calmer than they came. This is where our community gathers: what we make, how we look after each other, and the small rituals that keep us steady.
Made at the table
Every piece here was finished by someone who sat at our table. Same class, same pattern, and still no two alike. That is the joy of making with intent.

Finished something in class? Email a photo of the piece on its own to mymindfullcraft@gmail.com and I may add it here, with your first name if you like. Photos are softened before they go online.
Our table
How we sit together
- Every pace is welcome. There is no race and no comparing. Your work is measured only against your own last stitch.
- Mistakes are part of the making. We unravel, laugh and try again. Every crocheter at this table has frogged a row or ten.
- Kindness first. Encourage, share a tip if it is wanted, and celebrate each other’s finished pieces.
- What is shared here stays here. Stories told around the table, and the original designs we work on, stay within the group.
- Be present. This is time for your hands and your mind to settle, so let the rest of the week wait for a while.
Try it at home
A mindful round
Try this at the start of any project, or whenever your mind feels busy.
- Settle. Sit back, drop your shoulders and take three slow breaths.
- Feel. Notice the yarn between your fingers: its weight, its texture, its colour.
- Count. Work one round, counting each stitch softly, out loud or in your head.
- Notice. When the round closes, pause and look at what your hands have made.
No rushing, no judging. Just one round.
The rhythm of a class
Our studio rituals
Every class follows the same gentle rhythm. Nothing is rushed, and there is always time to talk.
1
Come in and catch up
Arrive, settle into your chair and say hello. We chat first: a smile, and a catch-up on the week that has been.
2
Crochet a little
Pick up your hook and ease in with a few gentle rounds while the conversation flows around the table.
3
Tea and cake
Then we pause together for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, a sweet break in the middle of the class.
4
Learn a bit, do a bit
I show the next step, you try it with me beside you, and we go on in small, unhurried turns: a little learning, a little making.
5
Relax, breathe, let go
Let the week fall away. Breathe, relax your shoulders, and simply engage with your stitches and the people around you.
Funny moments in the studio
Quirky quirks of crochet
Crochet is calming, but it can also be wonderfully silly. Tangles that appear out of nowhere, a row frogged for the third time, a hook that vanishes and turns up in someone’s hair. Here are a few of the moments that keep us laughing around the table.
Funny moments and photos from the studio are coming soon.
Heard something hilarious at the table? Email it to mymindfullcraft@gmail.com and, with everyone’s OK, it may end up here.
The chemistry of the studio
Like minds at the table
Ask my students what they love about the studio and their answers sound remarkably alike.
Community
A table of people who share the same quiet love of making, and who look forward to seeing each other each week.
Learning, and a challenge
New stitches and techniques that keep the mind curious, and the chance to stretch a little further in a safe place, where no one is judged.
Sharing honestly
Talking openly about how the week has gone, including the times the homework has felt hard, and finding that others felt exactly the same.
That is the quiet chemistry of the studio: like-mindedness. As people talk around the table, they keep discovering how similar their thoughts are: the same worries, the same small triumphs, the same delight in a finished round. Shared thinking turns a group of crocheters into a community, and makes it easy to be yourself at the table.
